New Collections Open in AIMH: Digital Files of Department of Rural Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (1,211 volumes); and Digital Files of National Agricultural Research Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (1,265 volumes); and Digital Files of Agricultural Economics Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (55 volumes); and Archives of the State-Owned Enterprises Commission, Ministry of Economic Affairs (8,508 items); and Bank of Taiwan (1,223 volumes).

1. Digital Files of Department of Rural Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 農林部農村經濟司

The Department of Rural Economy, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was responsible for adjusting and improving farmland leasing, designing and regulating agricultural finance, guiding and supervising farms and agricultural groups, guiding and improving agricultural product transportation and marketing, conducting surveys and research on the rural economy, and other matters related to supporting and protecting farmers' livelihoods. This collection is divided into categories such as agricultural surveys, agricultural production and marketing, agricultural finance, farm management, agricultural loans, the 25% Arable Rent Reduction policy, and land tax.

2. Digital Files of National Agricultural Research Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 農林部中央農業實驗所

The National Agricultural Research Bureau was established in 1932 under the Ministry of Industry. In 1940, it was renamed the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as the nation's highest agricultural research institution. Its functions were: (1) researching and improving agronomy and horticulture; (2) experimenting with soil, fertilizer, agricultural implements, and pest and disease control; (3) investigating and researching agricultural conditions; (4) researching agricultural product grading, inspection, and marketing systems; and (5) training agricultural technicians and improving agricultural experimental methods nationwide. It had departments for rice cultivation, wheat cultivation, soil science, fertilizer, plant diseases and pests, and agricultural economics, conducting research and experiments on agricultural issues and establishing experimental fields and work stations in important agricultural areas. The collection includes documents on personnel appointments, staff salaries, accounting reports, and work plans, as well as documents from affiliated institutions such as the Peiping Agricultural Experiment Station, Chongan Tea Experiment Station, and Meitan Experimental Tea Farm.

3. Digital Files of Agricultural Economics Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 農林部農業經濟研究所

In addition to the Rural Economics Department within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which oversees agricultural economic administration, the Ministry established the Agricultural Economics Research Institute in 1947. This institute was responsible for collecting agricultural economic data, investigating agricultural economic issues, and researching agricultural policies. The institute comprised departments of agricultural surveys, land economics, rural finance, farm management, agricultural trade, and rural socio-economics. The collection includes the institute's organizational, general affairs, personnel, accounting reports, and work reports.

4. Archives of the State-Owned Enterprises Commission, Ministry of Economic Affairs 經濟部國營事業委員會

State-owned enterprises play a critical role in the policy formulation and implementation of government economic development strategies. They are entrusted with the responsibility of leading economic growth and strengthening national power, thereby contributing to the enhancement of public welfare and prosperity.

The primary contents of this archival collection include policies, plans, personnel, finance, and accounting. Its scope of operations encompasses areas such as planning, management, production and marketing, performance evaluation, research and surveys, work reports, issues and improvements. The collection also contains records concerning the reorganization or realignment of certain subordinate units.

The core of the archives pertains to the Commission of National Corporations, the State-Owned Enterprises Commission, and their affiliated enterprises from the 1960s through the 1990s. The materials include the minutes of shareholders meetings and of boards of directors and supervisors meeting of enterprises. They are the most distinctive and noteworthy. This collection constitutes vital primary sources for studying why Taiwan came to be known as one of the "Four Asian Tigers", how it achieved Taiwan Economic Miracle, and how it gradually laid the foundation for its transformation into a Technology Island.

5. Bank of Taiwan 臺灣銀行

This collection originates from the Bank of Taiwan and primarily contains various reports generated by the Bank's head office and its branches, as well as related surveys and reports on economies and industries. The content covers regional surveys, agriculture, forestry, fishery, animal husbandry, industry, finance, taxation, commerce, and trade.
